CMCP Counsel Connect
CMCP Counsel Connect creates an opportunity for in-house counsel and counsel from law firms to meet in small groups to discuss their practice area and explore efforts to drive diversity in the legal sector.
Schedule for the Day
Each Practice Group Meeting group will include two (2) legal department attorneys and six (6) law firm attorneys for a discussion group of 8 total participants per practice area (practice areas may have multiple discussion groups.)
The practice area group discussion will begin with in-house counsel providing a brief description of their business needs and outside counsel hiring practices, followed by brief introductions from outside counsel on their expertise.
The group discussion will move to an open conversation on business and diversity, that may explore:
- How outside counsel can best service clients and how clients can most effectively utilize outside counsel.
- Diversity of attorneys in the practice area and how legal departments and law firms are addressing the challenges
After a brief break, the second round of practice area groups will meet followed by a debrief of all group participants.
This unique opportunity to speak with practice area peers and discuss diversity offers a valuable program to kick-off the new year by building and strengthening business relations.

Matching
Legal department attorneys are invited to participate in groups based on practice areas.
Law firm attorneys will be assigned to groups for each round based on (3) availability of openings, (2) practice areas selected on the registration form, and (1) time of registration, first come first served.
*No more than two attorneys from the same a company or law firm will be included in a discussion group.
Practice Area Group assignments will be announced January 10, 2022.
Practice Area Group assignments are non-transferable. If a law firm attorney is unable to be assigned to at least one practice area group, the law firm attorney will be notified, and the registration canceled.
