Position Summary:

This attorney in Visa’s Legal and Compliance group will be part of the team that works on Visa’s global M&A and investments in support of Visa’s corporate development and venture investments teams.

This job may be based in either Foster City, CA or New York, NY.

Basic Qualifications:

12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD); or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

At least 7+ years of legal practice, with a primary focus on M&A
Admission to the bar in the United States
Juris Doctorate
Experience as a lawyer at both a law firm and multi-national company
Experience buying/selling companies in multiple non-U.S. jurisdictions
Capacity to work independently and take initiative
Passion for excellence
Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels
Excellent judgment on legal matters, reflecting pragmatism and business savvy
Excellent interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple, complex projects simultaneously
Experience managing transactions involving regulators a plus but not required
Experience in payments or technology industries a plus but not required
Open to periodic travel
Admission to the bar in California or New York a plus but not required

This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements:

This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds.
