Under the direction of the SDG&E real estate lawyers, this paralegal will focus on real estate, land, and right-of-way matters and work directly with several SDG&E business groups. These business groups include Corporate Real Estate, Land Management, Right-of-Way, Design & Project Management, and Major Projects. Real estate matters at SDG&E frequently intersect with environmental, litigation, and regulatory law matters, and this paralegal will work not only with the SDG&E real estate law group but also with the SDG&E environmental law, litigation, regulatory law, and regulatory affairs groups.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work directly with the real estate lawyers and business groups to identify and help resolve legal issues.
Conduct intermediate-level legal and factual research for real estate legal matters.
Review and analyze title reports and surveys, prepare title conflict letters, and work with the title company to clear title conflicts and close transactions.
Prepare initial drafts of correspondence to public agencies, developers, and other third parties describing SDG&E’s real property rights.
Review and finalize real estate agreements and real property instruments for proposed and existing SDG&E facilities.
Attend project team meetings and report back on real estate issues to the real estate lawyers.
Perform other intermediate-level duties as required or assigned with minimal supervision by a lawyer.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Prior Experience
Typically requires BS/BA in Law, Real Estate, Business Administration, Finance, or related field and 2 or more years of previous paralegal experience, equivalent training, or experience in real estate.
Previous experience as a paralegal supporting real estate law is highly desirable.
Certification by a paralegal program approved by the American Bar Association or proof of licensed certification under California law is required. Candidates should demonstrate a sound understanding of legal standards, professional methods, regulations, and underlying legal concepts for real estate law.
Candidates should be able to work under the direction of a lawyer and guided by project and department operating priorities and expected outcomes.
Candidates should be able to anticipate outcomes, recommend appropriate solutions to standard issues, work independently on assignments, and seek guidance for more complex work.
Must be able to work effectively on a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with the ability to meet deadlines.
