The Norton Law Firm is a rapidly growing litigation boutique in Oakland’s Jack London District.
We are focused on providing the best possible legal representation to plaintiffs and defendants in high stakes, complex civil litigation and trials. Our clients include leading technology companies as well as startups and individuals. We are ambitious, smart, collaborative, and fully committed to providing the best place to work, while doing the best work possible.
We are rapidly growing and looking to add ambitious superstars like you.
You already know what a litigation associate does. Here’s what that means at our firm:
Our clients don’t have one kind of legal problem, and we don’t specialize in one kind of law. We don’t have practice groups. You can have a long career litigating the same statute over and over again. You just can’t do it here.
Our associates take and defend depositions, lead client meetings, define strategy, go to court, and examine witnesses at trial – because that’s what lawyers do. Meaningful responsibility on important cases is not a perk we offer. It’s the minimum we expect.
We think of law as a craft. We believe the practice of law requires aesthetics and creativity as well as discipline and rigor.
We are committed to excellence in all these aspects because we are determined to win for our clients, but also because winning without excellence would be small and shabby and grim. We practice excellence.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Be a great lawyer, adviser, and teammate. Strive to be even better. Expect the same of everyone else.
Qualifications and Prior Experience:
- You’re admitted to the bar in California.
- You’re not afraid to do things that fall outside your “prior experience.”
- You read about the firm and the position and thought, that’s what I want.
That’s enough for now. We should talk.
How to Apply:
Please email Fred Norton at [email protected] with a resume, law school transcript, and a recent writing sample that shows your skill and your style – we’re looking for both.
