Position Summary

Our HR Legal team finds innovative solutions, drives change, enables smart risk and helps create the best possible experiences for Intuit’s workers, leaders, and the stakeholders we support. We partner closely with our US and global teams to develop and execute Intuit’s most strategic workforce initiatives. We love finding ways that data and technology can make us and the company better at what we do.

This role sits on our HR Legal team of three attorneys and a program manager. The role works closely with other teams in our Legal, Compliance, and Policy and People and Places (HR) organizations.

As an employment counsel, you will need to build stakeholder empathy by understanding and anticipating the needs of our stakeholders including People & Places and business leaders. We look at challenges as opportunities to find the best outcome for our stakeholders and enable them to take smart risks to paths forward.

This role is a hybrid. This lawyer will be expected to work at least 2 days per week at our Mountain View site. We prioritize being together in the same place to promote connection and belonging, creativity and innovation, as well as speed, agility, and productivity to accelerate getting work done.

Duties and Responsibilities
– Manage worker claims (agency charges, demand letters, and litigation) at Intuit’s high standards while developing new ways to scale this critical work and improve processes
– Use inquiry to truly understand needs and advise our HR partners on a range of worker-related issues, from pay equity to complex exits to wage and hour compliance and beyond
– Work across a variety of stakeholders to proactively identify key practical risks and develops response plan and strategy for a broad range of issues
– Drive accountability within cross-functional teams on HR legal projects to deliver desired outcomes (not just provide advice)
– Track new global employment law developments and changes in the external environment that impact our practices and approach and translate those into clear actions
– Rapidly build trusted and inclusive partnerships with partners in HR centers of excellence and provide clear, data-driven insights to address concerns and reach the best outcomes
– Drive teams to build scalable solutions to recurring challenges
– Deep understanding of Intuit’s unique culture and values and bring those into all the work we do
– Execute priorities and initiatives for the broader legal and compliance organization, including the many new challenges presented by the external environment
– Use expertise to identify opportunities to accelerate Intuit’s strategy and coach and teach team members to help them address issues on their own
– Receive and give feedback and coaching as needed across boundaries and functions

Qualifications and Prior Experience
– 7+ years of employment law experience at a law firm or in-house
– Litigation experience either at an outside law firm or in-house
– Deep knowledge of employment law concepts, terminology, and principles
– Experience working with complex data and metrics to drive decisions and assess risk or manage complex litigation
– Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including being able to communicate the most relevant information to influence and drive change without having to provide every detail of legal analysis
– Strong organization and project management skills
– Ability to learn new technology and tools
– A learner and innovator who’s never afraid to try something new, especially to enable us to work more efficiently, experiment and has a bias for action (try it and learn)
– Someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment with a “can do” mentality
-Strong personal ethical code and integrity and deep respect for privacy and confidentiality
– Alignment with our Legal, Compliance, and Policy Organization ethos, which requires a strong commitment and accountability to the company and each other
– Strong preference for experience supporting HR compliance and providing advice to teams outside the U.S.
– Strong preference with practical experience navigating worker classification issues presented by “gig economy” models
